This schlock remake was clearly inspired by the money generated by the remake of Battlestar Galactica. Trust the major networks however to get the idiot level of "oh remaking sci fi series is good business" and miss the WHY BSG was a success entirely.
BSG succeeds because it was truly a "reimagining" in the truest sense of the words. The writers tarted from the barest bones of the idea and rebuilt an entirely new, deeper, and far more interesting story.
OTOH in V the network seems to think "reimagining" means updating the SFX and wardrobe and redesigning the women to today's definition of "hot." About the only thing new or interesting here is a slightly more direct Nazi tie-in with a clear "hitler youth" program as a significant, if fleeting, part of the pilot's plot.
V was dumb. V IS dumb. And its exactly what you would expect of a network who believes the target intelligence level of its audience is an 8 yr old. (Though to be fair, the remake occasionally reaches as a high as a horny 14 yr old.)
