My wife wanted to see the movie on the eve of Easter, focusing on inspiration, rather than our usual fare. I found the job that Greg Kinnear did to be outstanding. The entire movie, in my opinion, was shouldered by his skills and clarity. Otherwise, the movie was well-made but the rest of the acting was less exemplary. My struggles with the movie was the ongoing financial tension that the family was experiencing and how that could relate to the son's visions. I was surprised that there was so little substance to the claims that heaven is real, solely based on a few anecdotal suppositions from the four-year-old child. As I entered the theater, I remembered the words of Jesus. He said don't look here and there for the kingdom of heaven because it is in your midst and within you. It seems very odd that the congregation has such difficulty in accepting one of the basic tenants of the faith. Now to get back to my thread regarding the financial windfall, that was created by the child's revelations. There's hardly any substantive evidence that would sway anyone from their previous position on heaven or the afterlife. Kudos for the pastor being able to merchandise his son's experience into a financial coup. May God have mercy on his soul.
