I just finished re-watching Gossip Girl and it was just as amazing the second time around.
You begin the first season with such a unique set of characters, teenagers going to a private school in Manhattan. There is Dan, the witty yet awkward boy from Broklyn, and his sister Jenny, who thirsts to fit in (on second thought, that was probably a Humphrey gene). Then there's the upper-east-side crew: Nate, the lost rich guy, Serena, the troubled leggy blonde, Blair, the scheming taste dictator and, of course Chuck Bass, who needs no introduction whatsoever.
And then there is Gossip Girl a website that posts about the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite, in other words, a blog that brings to light all dark secrets these teenagers have. And, trust me, there are many.
Through six seasons of amazing fashion, wonderful music, through shoots in New York and LA and Paris, through high school and college and royal flings, these characters come together, again and again, their lives intertwine, they fight and make up, they date and fall in love and, in the end, it is thoroughly addictive.
When you finally reach the last season, all those teenagers are all grown up, each has matured in his and her own way and it's just amazing to see Dan's bus boy haircut or Blair's headbands and compare that to where they are now.
It is fun and it is glamorous, occasionally daring and bold, and so much effort has gone into every single aspect of it. The dialogues, the outfits, the music, the schemes and the secrets.
Ultimately, a show worth obsessing over.
