This movie could be my favorite 2020 Christmas movie of the season. Full disclosure, I am a huge Fran Drescher fan from her The Nanny days. The acting, writing and production values in this movie surpasses anything I have seen on any of the networks (and there are many) running Christmas movies. What sets this movie apart is the superb acting of the leads, Ben Lewis and Blake Lee, as well as the excellent writing. Their chemistry was through the roof and, frankly, far superior to any heterosexual Christmas movie TV couple. After I saw the movie, I looked them up to learn more about them and discovered they are married in real life. They clearly brought their real life love and chemistry with them to the movie set. You really felt heartbroken for them when it looked like they were not going to be able to stay together. The supporting cast, including Fran, were also wonderful. The writing was current, witty with just the right amount of sentiment and emotion. The characters spoke and acted the way real people speak and act. For context...I am an older straight woman...and I loved this movie.
