Very much a product of its time, the Church of England had just approved Female clergy for the first time after many years of debating. Dawn French plays role of a female vicar who comes to a small set-in-its-ways village after their previous 100 year old vicar dies. The show manages to be very very funny without offending too many people.
There is an ensemble cast of some of the very best comedic actors Britian has to offer. If you haven't already seen it, buy the video or catch a re-run. >
