Clearly made for an escapist, female crowd, but so innocent it could absolutely be watched by families. While it is glossy, extremely naive and full of clichés, it is also has some qualities because it is so consequently easy-to-understand and overdone.
The language is also very easy to understand. It is polished RP with only occasionally a very thin, made-up Scottish tinge.
Therefore, recommendable for 12 year old girls of all ages. I think adult women could watch it if they have plenty of white wine.
