Hyper Filtered Over Produced

I can confidently say that I am MST3K's biggest fan but I only refer to the pre Netflix's version as you can see from my one star rating.

I used to watch them late at night through middle and high school. In the past two years I have watched every episode that I can find on the internet for 16 hours a day. Two years....16 hours. It's strangely comforting, it helps me sleep, and I have to pay just enough attention to it that it doesn't interfere with my daily routine. I now have gotten to a point in my fandom that I know who wrote a joke that is used. The golden years are when Keven Murphy first came on to when Trace left. I hate the SciFi syndication as Mike is portrayed as a bumbling man joke. There is enough of that already and it's a tiresome trope, but I will now digress and will specifically review the new version of MST3K on Netflix.

What the actual hell Joel?! This over produced flashy piece of garbage? When I first turned it on last year I was so annoyed. I wanted to try again and see if maybe I've soften and the new season is just as bad. This is why I didn't contribute to the kick starter to bring this back. I knew it was going to be trash.

Jonah is dead behind the eyes. It's like he's not even there. I don't notice him on the screen.

I can't tell who's talking when they are in the theater because everyone sounds the same. They move around too much and it comes across as trying too hard. Are we really at a place now in our culture that people can't just wait 30 seconds for a cleaver, well delivered joke to drop properly?

They all talk way too fast and too much.

Why does Tom hover? It was an endearing part of MST3K that he had to be carried in and placed in his seat. Not flying all over the screen, distracting how the jokes are placed in relation to the movie.

Gypsy. My poor, poor girl. She was my favorite character and what was hilarious about her was the fact that she was voiced by a man that was trying to sound like a woman. A skit in the old MST3K when Mike and the bots did a swing choir competition and she(he) shrieks out, "Get around, get around, I get around!!!" made me fall on the floor, crying. Now she's just a regular girl bot. Who cares.

Kinga is horrible.

The intro is annoying with all the people and the brass choir and the minions? It's too much! Thanks Hollywood for ruining this. All the little details that I love about the old MST3K are gone in the "reboot". The set designs, the prop creations, the do-it-yourself, we-can-make-this-work, and heart are not present here. Now they have all the money to have a bunch of people do everything and efficiently and clean and hyper filtered brightly disgusting - I'm so disappointed.

The last Netflix MST3K I watched, Jonah and the bots where doing a skit about plot continuity. I wrinkled my nose and commented, "What is this, Blues Clues?" UGH.

How about this? Why don't we take sucky movies/shows and remake them to be good instead of taking what is already awesome and making them bad.
