"Continue to get poorer" seems to indicate you aren't really the biggest fan of the EU.

And you are right not to be. Things like the Common Agricultural Policy have made us all poorer by raising food prices.

And the problem with the EU is that our is almost impossible to change this policy. Successive British governments have tried. Blair even gave up some of our rebate for reform that never happened.

But good news is on the way. Once Brexit has happened we are in control of this and can set policy to suit. And if you don't like a policy then you will be able to vote out those that enact it.

So cheer up.

Well if you take a look at all the 'fake news' the electorate swallowed (on both sides) then yes I think we are totally naive and perhaps somewhat stupid and gullible.

Food is cheaper now than it's ever been.Where are you getting all this from. The only people likely to benefit or think they have benefited are the little englanders.

I have been a member here since the year dot though I don't post that often these days - only for the important stuff.

I can guarantee there's only me.

Cheaper now than it has ever been? Where are you getting this from? You've never heard of inflation.

EU food prices are around 8% higher than the world market price. This doesn't take into account the hidden extra cost of subsidies that come out of our taxes.

The protectionist EU has cost all of us in higher food prices.

It was previously referred to as the Common Market. The whole concept of the European experiment was/is to bring lasting peace to the continent of Europe so that what happened in the first half of the 20th Century can never happen again.

It's also provided us with GM free food farmed ethically.I don't want to see the American system of cattle never seeing the light of day or pumped full of antibiotics on my plate thank you very much.

Was that an admission that EU prices are higher?

It's very kind of you to impose your food standards on everyone. So those that are in food poverty - it's just tough I suppose?

Faust Publish time 3-12-2019 00:56:44

I think you will find Nato had this aim and existed long before the EU and also the common market.

And the EU is all about ethical farming?
