Shocking. Peter Ebdon is back in business.

Terrible for the sport.

Half the audience in a coma. Many viewers drifted off to sleep. Night nurse will be filling their boxes with download codes for Selby games rather than actual tablets.

One real player in this final.

One player who played as if he was a local bar player. Waiting for mistakes. Shocking.

Robertson, O'Sullivan... Both succumbed to shocking boring defensive tactics.

Can you imagine a sport filled with Selby's.

Thankfully he's getting huge amounts of "awful play" tweets on twitter so at least he knows that he disgusts a majority of snooker fans.

Grow up or at least grow a pair.

Wanted Robertson or Ding to win the tournament but happy for Selby. 3 Masters, 1 UK Championship and 1 World Championship shows he is an outstanding snooker player.

I too really wanted to see Ronnie win, but I can't understand your comments. Selby may not be the most dynamic player to watch, but when it comes to match play, you can't knock his game. He got the job done against O'Sullivan where others failed!

As for the huge amounts of Twitter comments - if they question the result then you'd have to question whether they are Snooker fans. Just because Ronnie lost, they spit their dummy out! Like I said, I wanted Ronnie to win, but he was out done tactically, plus maybe a run of the ball in favour of Selby. But Ronnie lost fair & square - end of! It's not just a game of big pots - spectacular as they are to see. It's a game of chess on a baize and anyone who argues against that really doesn't have a clue about the game in the first place!!

The comments aren't really to do with Ronnie.... Just the style which Selby "plays" to win.

Your aim being to just play in order to get a mistake from an opponent doesn't gain a lot of respect from fans so that's what the comments on twitter are about.

But alas it's over and his name is on the trophy.... So his hideous negative play style has been rewarded with the ultimate prize.

Just when snooker fans thought they'd recovered from having the likes of Peter Ebdon around.

Totally agree.

Selbys game although effective is like watching paint dry from a spectator perspective.

Don't like him one bit.

Awesome win by Selby. Great match play tactics which totally threw Ronnie. Best World Championship final i have seen for a few years.

Reading the above is what totally frustrates me about Ronnie's fans. You are not fans of snooker but just the Rocket. IMO this final was great, what a comeback from 10-5 down. Mark's tactics were spot on and that final frame clearance was amazing, not just for where the balls were but the fact it was a winning frame.

Snooker is NOT just all about clearing up in five minutes - heck why do you think it's called snooker data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Totally agree - I dare say that if Ronnie had won last night on a decider, the protagonists would have then deemed it the best final since Davis/Taylor, irrespective of if Selby had played the same game as we have just witnessed.

He played dogged match-play snooker and succeeded where others failed. You can't doubt his ability as he has just challenged the best players in the world to get to the final, and then beaten the most gifted player to ever have picked up a cue. You don't win by just playing safe - he played many a brave/gutsy shot, but tempered it with a bit of thought - i.e what happens if I miss this so better try and cover myself if I do! Thinking it is clever, but putting it into practice and where it counts with the pressure it brings, is only something most of us could dream of!

The above ability & performance traits are what's needed to win. Tony Drago was one of the most exciting players ever to play snooker, but he didn't win much. Solid Snooker wins matches & championships - and unfortunately for some ..... that's just boring.

Banging on & slaying Selby as another Ebdon is both an insult to two exceptional Snooker players. Just because they don't have the aura or playing style about them that makes them instantly "likeable", doesn't mean that they don't deserve their respective WC wins.

I had hoped Ronnie would have come through and was rooting for him - the sad fact is, he was just not good enough on the day!
