unable to access one specific website - Sky Fibre BB
Strange issue - I am unable to access one specific ( non adult) website from my home Sky network - I tried several devices. When I turn off my phone WiFi I can then access the site via 4G. I can also access the site from my home WiFi when connecting via the works VPN.Any ideas how to resolve ? ( Sky Broadband Shield is off) Is the website in question on this list?
Why are websites being blocked in the UK?
If so, ask Sky to unblock it. Thanks - it’s not listed as blocked Just tried accessing via a proxy and was able to connect so everything points to Sky blocking the site - could another Sky Broadband user verify ?
The site is www.sermoncentral.com
Maybe Sky has a downer on Christianity !! BT are happy with it. No problem with Plusnet
I wonder if its a DNS issue. Have you tried using 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4 instead of the ISPs own DNS? Im a sky user, and my DNS is set to 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4 and i can't access the site either, so don't think its a DNS issue Hi - how do I do this ? (Sorry for dumb question ) can you goto a command line and do a trace route?
If i do an NSLOOKUP for the host sermoncentral.com, i get ip address 50.58.50.26
If i then trace route to that Ip address i get this far...
Code: traceroute to 50.58.50.26 (50.58.50.26), 64 hops max, 52 byte packets 1192.168.10.1 (192.168.10.1)0.910 ms0.643 ms0.600 ms 2* * * 3be259.pr2.hobir.isp.sky.com (89.200.131.2)19.441 ms17.832 ms18.940 ms 4lag-102.ear1.london1.level3.net (212.113.9.141)17.975 ms17.207 ms17.466 ms 5ae-226-3602.edge3.london15.level3.net (4.69.167.94)17.208 ms ae-228-3604.edge3.london15.level3.net (4.69.167.102)17.662 ms17.559 ms 6ae-226-3602.edge3.london15.level3.net (4.69.167.94)17.345 ms17.534 ms ae-228-3604.edge3.london15.level3.net (4.69.167.102)17.589 ms 7ae4.ar8.lon15.level3.net (4.68.111.254)17.199 ms17.262 ms17.926 ms 8cos1-ar1-xe-0-0-0-0.us.twtelecom.net (35.248.1.214)132.067 ms131.756 ms131.778 ms 9* * *10* * *11* * *12* * * it stops at hop 8, which is some device in the USA
Can anyone who can get to the site see if they hit any of the same hops, and can OP try a trace and see if your trace goes the same as mine as we are both on sky? Hi rorton - thanks for taking the time to check this - I get exact same results as you with nslookup and tracert
Not sure what the next step is , but it does seem to be a Sky problem ?
Thanks to the others for checking their connections too .... any suggestions ?
