If your messages aren’t working did you enable personal requests settings?

Inked Publish time 1-12-2019 21:34:56

I clicked yes during setup but checking the settings in the home app and it is in fact not enabled.

Will test it again when home tomorrow!

Do you think they will enable linking more to male surround sound with 5 HPs to work with ATV 4K?

Synchro Publish time 1-12-2019 21:34:58

I wouldn’t want 5 HP’s of this type as my surround sound.

For that money you could buy a much better set up.The smart feature would also be redundant on 4 of the 5 HP’s.

Wouldn’t make sense to me.

I know you could get better sound for less but I was thinking more of it would be convenient in terms of wireless plus no av amp and also it would adjust to the room and position etc

Inked Publish time 1-12-2019 21:34:58

I think it’s an interesting idea, but even if they did enable the function it would be severely limited as it will only work with Apple TV. So no good for Sky, or UHD / Blu-ray Discs etc

What are the thoughts now on it’s sound quality, I’m in 2 minds to purchase one since I’ve got echos and a lovely music setup all be it on the large side.

I take back my earlier comments about the sound signature of the HomePod. After more listening I actually think it’s reasonably flat through the mid range and treble. The bass is boosted but in a pleasing way.
I’m really enjoying how this little thing sounds!

It depends on how they implement it. For example, they will need to be a lot more directional to be effective in a home cinema setup.

However, I'd argue that if you want a stereo pair that also needs to be the case. Considering the built-in smart processor I could see they could make it do that.

But then the range will have to be expanded to include subwoofers and atmos as well

It's possible, can't see it happening anytime soon.

Am I missing the point of all these 'smart voice controlled' speakers?Music - now I don't know about anyone else, but I have thousands of music tracks, so many in fact that if I'm being completely honest I forget just what music I have recorded/downloaded over the years.

It's only by reviewing my music folders that I see the number of tracks I have and more importantly see tracks I forgot I had, which at that point I often listen to them again.I can view these folders either on my PC, Tablet, phone, or TV.It's then the simplest of tasks to highlight the track which will then start to play on my Sonos Playbar.

If I was using 'voice control' I would need to be able to remember the contents of my music folders in order to ask Siri, Alexa, Hi Google et-al in order to play the music - an impossible task.
