Cheers for that, I was looking at the Amp & Switch route rather than the HT bypass option, so any amp would work I presume?

Any amp will work with a switcher, cheaper and just as easy option. The Beresford 7220 is a popular and good switcher.

Cheers, there are loads of amps out there! Any obvious choices to look at under say £300?

I'm going to see if my local RS can set up a PM6006 and Q3050i, any other amps around that price worth considering?

Costello Publish time 28-11-2019 02:48:01

Interesting. I went to RS and listened to the same combo over the summer. I was rather disappointed. The 3050i’s were very underwhelming: muddy and lacking clarity. A Cambridge Audio amp improved things slightly but the speakers were disappointing. You may love them, of course.
For a little bit more than a new 6006UK, you could get a second hand Rega Brio which, in my opinion, is in a different league.

That's interesting, I found them clear with nice tight bass, I auditioned them along with Dali and MA Bronze 5, and Q3050i sounded best to me, the Dali definitely lost out with the bass sounding a little slow and muddy.

Just goes to show you how subjective this all is. I came out with the Bronze 5s as they sounded so much better to me. The important thing is you got speakers you love. I’ll be interested to hear how you get with the PM6006 with them. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Yep, it's always best to go and listen for yourself! maybe I heard a duff set of Bronze 5's data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I'm still struggling to decide what to do, amp with HT bypass, power amp, normal amp & switch?!

Stuck with the options really, was going with an open box PM6006 & Beresford or Dynavox switch for about £350-380. But now I'm thinking maybe a power amp like someone else here added to their 3500H, think it was an MM7025 which is about £650.
Then there's amps with HT bypass like the M3i for about £550!!

A little confused!! Probably not an easy question to answer, but, what in theory should give the best performance out of the options?

Just looking at prices/reviews etc, I think I'll stick with the amp & switch option(maybe!data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
