I think this chap explains the issue better -
At the end I`m just not comfortable installing another launcher with a questionable T&C from a company that has exposed all their users data. The devs will get my money - just not yet.
anywho - The rtx stuff posted above looks amazing, maybe by the time I pick this up another gen or cheaper cards may of hit the market?

Well I've decided to go all in and get a gaming rig for my 65" 4K TV as can use it for gaming and my missus can use it (obviously she won't but had to get an angle where she didn't go ballistic!
Think I'll be buying this one its delivered as the 2080 looks like it will take advantage of the game quite a bit

Hahaha. I feel your pain. Recently got myself a new PC for about £1500.
Minus the 2080Ti. If she asks, I’ll tell her. Here’s hoping she doesn’t ask or read this forum!

Right on.
The 1080ti will be able to run many more games at 4K ultra than the 2080 because they need more than 8gb vram.
Nvidia have been stockpiling 1080ti cards for quite a while as they want people to buy the 2080 and make it appear more popular than it really is. Naughty.
As for Ray tracing. The 2080 hasnt the juice to do it at 4K and its unlikely many games will be adopting it for a long time. If ever.
Ray tracing in games will benefit less than 1% of gamers at present.
Why would devs waste money for such a small return? And PC games are always cracked and pirated. Another reason why devs won't be adopting RT.
Apart from a few reflections etc in metro that you won' even notice due to the speed of the game, you won't see any difference anywhere apart from your pocket.
The 2080ti is a bad purchase due to cost, reliability and the fact it offers little over the 1080ti. There's lab results and the real world. In the real world( what humans can actually see ) the 2080ti offers a maximum 15% Performance increase. It's largely around 10% and that is indiscernible.
The real crime is that nVidia are deliberately holding back so many 1080ti cards. That tells me they know their 2080 offers nothing over the 1080ti. In many ways it's worse.

Wow what nonsense sorry.. I have a 2080ti and yes it was very expensive and yes it was prop a rip off but I can afford it and wanted to upgrade so got one.
Now on to metro, Ray tracing is used to great affect unlike bfv. Some rooms are a little dark if there is only one light source and the devs need to figure out how to do this moving forward but make no mistake about it the performance is getting better and it’s defo the future and makes a nice difference.
I get 100fps on ultra running on a UltraWide with rtx on with no dlss.Metro is not a fast pace game and you defo see the effects.Even if it was a face paced you game you would see a difference so not really sure what ya going on about here either.
Do you have evidence that Nvidia are holding back old technology then as you’ve stated above? I get you don’t like the rtx cards but get your facts right hey, 2080ti offers about 30% increase over 1080ti not 10 and yes you can see a difference.

@mark6226
That’s a fair point but the performance difference between the 1080Ti and 2080Ti outside of a few rare 10% increase scenarios is generally much higher than that. Closer to 30%, sometimes a little less, sometimes a little more. That’s at 4K/60 which is probably what the 2080Ti is aimed at.

Well just bought the game pass for £1, and this is broken. It wont start unless it is in safe mode but it then wont sign into the xbox live servers when in safe mode!
