Is the SCS forums the best place for mods?
I'm finding it a little difficult to discern what is what, which are the best etc.

I got mine from various places. I just googled "Euro Truck Simulator 2 mods" and worked one by one with the links.
For example:
ETS2planet.com | Euro truck simulator 2 mods
Euro Truck Simulator 2 mods
Euro Truck Simulator 2 Mods | ETS 2 Mods | ETSModding.com
Euro Truck Simulator 2 Mods
Euro Truck Simulator 2 mods | mods for Euro Truck Simulator 2 - Gamemoding.com
and so on
I don't remember which mod is from which location to be honest data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I mainly just use ETS2planet nowadays, most of the sites host all the same mods give or take the odd one. The only real differance is the sites layout.
Just be careful with the mods that want to edit the .exe file, scan them first and then back up your save game before applying.

And there was me thinking nobody on here played this..........i bought the gold pack a few months ago, got it for the same price as the standard game was, in most places so well happy.
Once i have built my new rig and have a permanent system, i would love to add some mods. Are they hard to apply??
Drive safe people.......Naaaaaah

They are really easy to install. Download the mod you want and unrar it, there will be a .scs file which is the mod. Simply put this .scs file into your Documents>Euro Truck Simulator 2>mod folder. Then when you start the game click the Edit button on your avatar screen and tick the mods to activate them.

This thing is so heavy that I can't get past 40mph on a flat land, uphill it's more like 10mph and to stop it takes miles data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 71 tonnes
The tank was 61 tonnes.

I just came across this mod.
Trucksim Map v 4.5.4 a | ETS 2 mods
Looks good, downloading as we speak.
I won't be able to test until I come back from work tonight though
EDIT: with that speed of downloading, I won't be able to finish downloading before the work, so I'll download it tonight after work

I have yet to try any of the map mods but I did install the army one you posted the other day. My first job was some sort of truck with a missile on its back, the first motorway junction I came to I couldnt stop and caused a four car and one van pile up lol.
You will have to let us know about the map mod, in the link you posted in the second picture it looks like the trees are just floating in mid-air. Some other map mod comments say things like there are invisable walls you just ram into and that some roads you drive on even if flat cause you to take damage for no reason.
