Bored of food...
I'm bored of food... I mean really bored of pretty much everything, I can't make sense of it, it's nothing medical, I don't have any eating disorders, no depression etc etc...I just find myself struggling to find something I really want to eat, I'm pretty easy when it comes to food, there are some things I just wont eat - seafood and mushrooms, anything else I'll at least try.
The only thing that ever seems to tickle my fancy is an Indian take away or Japanese food, nothing else really excites me any more.
I always read the food threads on here and end up with a watering mouth or start to feel a little hungry, but when it comes to lunch or dinner I struggle to think of something I want... even walking around the supermarket I find it hard to pick stuff I want to buy.
I'm sure plenty of people have had this problem before, I know all I need to do is be creative and think of new ways to do things to make it exciting again, but the question is... how do you do that?! I've tried cook books and reading recipes etc online, but it only really seems appealing when I'm not hungry data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
Any suggestions, experiences or comments would be appreciated data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 Lunches are a massive problem for me.
I find myself happiest when I have lots of different little tastes.
For example, today's lunch menu is pretty eclectic:
Three small pieces of sushi
Tub of houmous and some pitta breads
Some olives stuffed with chillis
Couple of pieces of lamb tikka
No boredom there, every mouthful's like I'm being whisked away by Judith Chalmers.data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 Try fasting ? You'll be back on food in no time. Semi-serious.
Or howabout this: make a plate of food for someone else (imaginary), leave yours and pinch theirs. Stolen grub always tastes nicer data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 Quasi-serious.
HTH,
Mike. Exactly what I mean, right now that sounds PERFECT, but if I had it in front of me I would probably not be overly interested... although... lamb is something I always have a lot of time for.
Not something I would really want to do, messing with calorie intake will only put the body into a different state, I am still eating - just not enjoying it or interested in it so much, I imagine there must be better ways, or I hope there are data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
Stolen grub does indeed always taste great, but I doubt I could trick myself into thinking it's for someone else when making it data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
Perhaps if I make food for "my friend" I could post his progress and reviews of food maybe I'd believe myself after a while data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
(and probably end up with an eating disorder to boot!)
I think looking at other cultures and their food might be an idea, I've not sampled much Caribbean style food... maybe that's something to try out. Someone once told me that after smoking weed they would get the munchies and could eat just about anything and enjoy it. Rice and peas!
YouTube - Bo Selecta - Trisha - Episode 1 have a pot noodle or big mac, great alternatives to food I just mentioned caribbean food to my colleague.
The one with the Trinidadian wife, but he hates Trinidad.
He just said "Pfffft...get some roadkill and heat it up a bit"data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 I think I'd rather be bored with food data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
See above!
I've not had either of them for a number of years, and I don't see that changing any time soon data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
I know a lot of it is very "cheap" and basic, but I've heard the flavours they use are amazing! You & Singh400 need to go on a night out together.
At least it would be a cheap one. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
