Thanks @True Romance ,

Starting back this week after a 3 year hiatus (due to slipped discs and damaged nerves and tendons).

This thread has given me a lot to think about (and things I partially knew) but reading it has really helped me out!!

Well done mate. Take it as slow and easy as you need to. In fact, take it slower and easier than you think you need to. Easiest thing in the world is to over do it and then put yourself off again.
And let us know how you get on!

Taking it slow is the best thing to have a long term relationship with the gym. I did the mistake to over do it so many times and then just quit. It needs to become a life style and not just an impulse.

Morning guys, update from me .first few sessions have been fun, although recovery time needs to improve!

Doing gentle sessions on rowing, cross trainer and light weights on assisted machines.

Thanks for your advice @shodan and @john79

Good work guys. I have been doing HiiT classes 3 times a week for the best part of 10 months. Thought my fittness was getting much better, however did a LBT (legs bums and tums) class last week for the first and it destroyed me! Could hardly walk the next day. Just shows how much further I have to go. Now adding 2 LBT classes per week to my routine. Works out well as they follow the HiiT class.

Alot of people tend to neglect their lower body and yet it contains the biggest muscles in the body which makes for great fat burners, not only that but well developed glutes and hamstrings will also help prevent lower back injuriesdata:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Yup, us kickboxers have buns of steel data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 bloody hard work lifting your foot 6ft in the air, but a great workout for the hamstrings, quads and glutes.

Which is why I've always (begrudgingly) said that kickboxers are some of the fittest's athlete's.. mind you, as a karateka, my legs go in straight lines so the kicks are quicker...

Remember many years back me and my nate went to join a kickboxing club. We went watched them training through the window for 10mins both looked at each other and said "fancy a Mcdonalds" data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I'll stick with my HiiT classes, besides way to old for all that jumping around data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Apparently boxers and cyclists are the fittest athletes.

I do a weekly HiiT class as well data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
