OK thanks. Is there a need for that stuff longer term or with a proper diet is that not needed?

I'm not really qualified to give a comprehensive answer for that I'm afraid. Never really used it but some of my friends wear by protein powder/creatine etc.

A proper diet is all you need, too many people waste money on supplements. You would be better using your cash to hire a Personal Trainer then pay for supplements in terms if getting results.

Totally agree with Wardy, proper form and nutrition will do much more than any supplement can. There's at least a couple of diet plans on here, I'm sure mine is in my strongman thread. Obviously alter anything like that to suit you and your goals. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I agree with that to an extent but I personally found protein and creatine helped me massively when I really went ham with weight training a few years ago. The creatine was great for getting an extra rep or two out but wasn't essential but without the protein, I'd have turned into a can of tuna!

I'm never sure, I always seem strongest without anything. Must be at least 6 weeks since I had any creatine but my food intake is through the roof at the moment I'm averaging 3 chicken breasts a day along with everything else. As a result I'm bigger and stronger than I've ever been and actually contemplating dropping a bit of timber so I can move easier!

The only supplements i take are Omega 3 and Vitamin D. The latter, especially, because we live in Britain and we're all lacking vitamin D (no sunlight!), even more if you're non-white!

Yeah, don't get me.wrong, I'd MUCH rather eat real food for protein (and creatine... steak!) but time and to a lesser extent money can really be saved with shakes. At the weekend I don't bother with either as I have time to experiment in the kitchen, which I really enjoy.
