Still got a lot of mine from last year, and thats all nice and thick too!

I have just a small amount left from last year.

I started to get the craving again recently. Darker cooler nights perhaps?

A gentle reminder for anyone interested. It's time to get the sloe gin started.

The last couple of years I have been using berries that I had been given, but this year for the first time I picked them myself. It would appear to be a very good year for sloes.

Tried this the other day considering i don't like may shorts i thought it was a nice tipple that you could easily spend the evening supping and then the morning suffering data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

The Guy who let me have a taste of last years stock said he gives the bottle a rotation every day for the first month then once a week for 6 months and then once a month if it lasts that long data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

we went lookg a short while back but no berries as such - just the odd one or two, but we got loads of brambles and made bramble vodka instead... data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

The first bush I found was very sparse and after picking it clean it yielded about a half pound of sloes.

In a different part of the field I found three bushes together with berries hanging like grapes. I picked 3lbs in about twenty minutes and barely make an impression on them.

Top tip- add some almond liqueur to the mix a month before Xmas to give it a really warm, nutty after taste. Cheap stuff from lidl will do, don't splash out on amoretto. Also nice with hazelnut liqueur .
