I've used stove paint in the past on chips, never colour matches but at least prevents rust

IronGiant Publish time 26-11-2019 04:38:49

Would that survive the high temps ?if so it sounds like a plan data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Thanks chaps.
I think I am going to contact Weber first and see what they recommend. If that fails, I will try one of the suggestions on here.

I wouldn't sweat it too much, high temperature paint will stop it from rusting if you get to it quick enough but even if you don't it'll last for years. One of our neighbours has one from the 80s, it is well beaten up but functions just fine.

Wow, it was amazing!! So moist, crisp skin and immense flavour! We had my girlfriend's parents round for dinner, her mum is an amazing cook, especially Indian food as her family is from India, and yet they both said it was the best chicken they've ever had!

I stupidly forgot to get a photo of it cooked and presented. I served it on a wooden board, surrounded by roasted apricots. I used the meat drippings and juice from the roasted apricots mixed with some water and cornflower to make an amazing rich sauce to serve on the side.

Only pics I took I'm afraid!

Anyone thinking of buying the portable Landmann BBQ from Tesco, here are a few more detailed pics of mine which arrived yesterday. I bought it with the Clubcard Exchange. I'm pretty pleased with it, will be great for camping and days out. I upgraded all the nuts and bolts to stainless steel and used spring washers, so it won't rust.

Yes, nice little portable BBQ, looks very smart!

Pulled Pork and a whole chicken using the Smokenator today.

iGrill attached to the Pork, chicken I have just left and I will check for temp with Thermapen.

Odd weather today- glorious sunshine and then it pours down. Doing another BBQ tomorrow too, just grilling, the usual meat plus doing some Corguette and cheese parcels and some stuffed tomatoes with spinach, sesame and cheese. Just trying out a few recipes from my Fathers day cook book. I'll try to do some pics.
