Insurance is often a legal requirement.
Models in the past may have sometimes predictied trends, but they get it wrong and companies go bust because of it.
Many companies suffer due to legislation changes when chemicals are discovered to be toxic, when hurricanes cause cities to flood out etc.
Global and local ecconomic, political, ecological, geological, biological and environmental factors play a significant role.
Since that happens, your models are too simple and therefore you are scamming clients.

GW is were the scam is at.
Green taxes ????Are they going into a pot to defeat the dreaded CO2 monster when it emerges from the seas or where ever ??
If GW is that bad, then I have said before : Ban HFC's !!!!
Just like CFC's were banned when they were discovered to be damaging the ozone layer.1 tonne of HFC in the atmosphere is equal to 2,000 tonnes of co2.
Is HFC subject to a green tax ??
No.Becasue men in suites need air con.
So until modern science involve ALL factors into MMGW, then it IS a scam !

If only it was as simple as that.
You want to try living and working in New Delhi or Singapore or many other places around the world without air-con. Also computers, telephone exchanges or anything electronic tends to fail when the temperature is at 47 deg C or above!
But I know what you're saying about HFC and factoring in all aspects into GW - I quite agree.

I think you might be getting a little confused.
You roof has a leak.
A build comes along and offers to fix it cash up front.
The builder takes your money and you never see him again.
... that's a scam, but your roof still has a leak.
Individual government policies that may or may not be appropriate have no affect on whether MMGW is occuring.

.... most Indians do without air-con Alan ... and use far less power and have a smaller CO2 foot print than you or I (we are over 6 times worse than India per person).

Oh well, CO2 is harmless plant food so it doesn't matter.

I spent 3 years working in India TB.
...And you are quite right in that most Indians do without air-con.

Not really, just pointing out certain realities.
Also, a combination of modern science, technology and borrowing ideas from nature means we are able to design buildings that don't need as much power to heat when it's cold or cool when it's hot.
They are already using designs based upon termite mounds in buildings today where the building structure itself is designed to act as a heat exchanger, keeping the rooms cool without the need for air-con.
It's the american muscle car vs' the european sports car.
With some thought into the design, you can put less in and get more out.

The ancient Egyptians were doing that 4,000 years ago.
