As this thread is 12 months old now, its prompted me to ask how you guys have gotten on in that period ?

I have a 4kWp system comprising of a Fronius 3.6TL inverter and 16 x JA Solar 250W panels.
I live close to Manchester in the North West, south facing with no shading.

My first 12 months passed in February and in that time generated around 3600kWh totalling around £1605 from FiT plus savings in electricity of around £150ish.

So, all in all, a pretty good return on investment and near as dammit bang on the figures quoted to me.

My unit was installed December last year and covered by snow most of January and February, so I don't really have any figures before March, however I am working on some sort of snow removal tool, just to be prepared for the coming winter data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

5,108kW hours since June 23rd 2011 on a 3kW installation that I didn't pay for, so I just enjoy the free electricity data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7about £640 free money so far data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

2643 for the whole of 2012 which is a couple of hundred more than I was expecting so I'm reasonably happy. That's for a 3kw system SSW facing with some shading early in the morning and late in the evening.

It hardly amounts to a get rich quick scheme, but I just figured they were adding a green subsidy to electricity bills anyway. I could either just be purely paying it out or I could install PV panels and get some of it back. I have seen our electricity bills come down slightly and it has made us more conscious of when we set the dishwasher or washing machine to come on. Even my wife is now programmed to set the timer for the middle of the day data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Do some inverters have a network connection? We have home plugs, so connecting to the net via that would be easy.

They have the facility to have modules added, and I know some come with a USB module fitted as standard, which can be used to connect to a PC.I would imagine an RJ45 module is an option on many of them.

My SMA inverter connects via Bluetooth which works OK. I think you can get expansion boxes to be able to monitor PV generation data on the web.

3.255MWh from a 3.315kW system for 2012. My prediction from the installer was 2.845MWh, so I'm happy!

Although 2013 is proving to be a washout at the moment!
