Sir John Chilcot will make a public statement about his inquiry’s findings at 11am on July 6 in the Queen Elizabeth II Centre, central London.

Getting rid of Saddam Hussien was a good thing no denying, with or without weapons of mass destruction in my opinion. It's what came afterwards to fill the vacum in Iraq. Which came from listening to the political advisors rather than milatray advice. And to some degree this has been repeated in Libya!

West: Iraq War Planned Before Blair Told Public

Watching this live, it sounds like Blair might be looking for a new career as a TV pundit.
I think his political career is now over.

Blair is super fudgeed.Chilcot is going as far as he can without saying the word "illegal".This goes beyond incompetence, it's disgusting.

Commitment to Bush no matter what

Explicitly warned that action would increase terrorism

Failed to plan for post Saddam regime

Failed to equip the troops.

I hope this lays the foundation for a prosecution. It's damning.

Ruffuz Publish time 26-11-2019 03:10:42

And this is only about Iraq.

Fairly sure very very similiar conclusion would be for all other conflicts caused directly/indirectly.

I don't understand Blair's unwavering and unquestioning loyalty to Bush.Blair isn't a cartoon villain. He's an educated man. What possible reason could he have for following a foreign leader into war without even questioning all the possible outcomes or ignoring clear expert evidence/opinion?

Is he really so stupid to gamble British lives on some chummy friendship?

Vanity

He gambled that it would be seen as a justified war, with him being the new Churchill and a legendary Brit in the (American) history books.

All about legacy with Blair ... hand of history on his shoulder and all that guff.

SteakAndCake Publish time 26-11-2019 03:10:43

He's got himself a cracking legacy now.
