Don't check this morning mate!
I see Chinese shares suspended AGAIN today after another 7% fall, and the FTSE down 2.8% at time of writing this, at around 5900.

Well it did it with style today. No point in meandering through the barrier when you can pulverise it with a crash.Down nearly 3% at the moment.Minus 176.
Retirement is currently delayed by a further year at least.

I've only just logged on and checked.data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7Not checked my individual shares mind.

Was tempted to top up on one of my shares this morning but i'll leave it a while.

Whilst it's horrible to watch ones investments shedding %%%% of their value, i'm trying to look at it an other way.

I intend to hold onto my portfolio for at least another 12 years. So if the market gives me a chance to buy some more shares on the cheap, i should be thankful, right.data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

You're lucky. I was hoping to take a rather substantial tax free lump sum from my pension in May when I'm 55.
I might still take it in May. 2020.

domtheone Publish time 26-11-2019 02:13:09

13 years till i reach 55.

Who knows, FTSE might reach 7000 by thendata:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7.

Been a crappy year with a lot of shares going nowhere but still got some stars.

Dividend reinvestment is where it's at.

I know i'll never reach the level i'm hoping for but in 13 years i hope my dividends alone will be paying what amounts to an average ish wage.

You never know Dom.
There are only two types of financial forecasters. Those who don't know, and those who don't know that they don't know. It could be 4000 in 12 months, or 7500. Check out the forecasts for 2015, made at the end of 2014.

domtheone Publish time 26-11-2019 02:13:12

Yup.

Most were around 7000 when it actually finished around 6250.

That says (as you say) that most really don't have a clue.

Only takes 1 H bomb and all bets are offdata:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Its hard to tell accurately because the graph isn't that clear, but the FTSE has been through the 6000 barrier at least four times already today. Two up two down and maybe another double pass as well.
(The graph on the BBC website, that is)

Perhaps I should change the thread title. How many times will the FTSE hit 6000 this year?

This is what I have for the FTSE100
