Give them an inch they'll take a mile
Unsurprisingly British troops involved in shootings in Ireland with terrorists are to be investigated for murder. The majority of those killed were pardoned under the good Friday agreement and so now this..British troops 'to be investigated' over killings during the Troubles in Northern Ireland
Best not send any British forces to any conflict now in case they get charged with murder of the opposing fighting force. In the good news tank-chaser Phil Shiner is in trouble.
Phil Shiner faces strike-off as he admits recklessness and lack of integrity
Public law solicitor Phil Shiner today accepted the inevitability of being struck off the roll as he admitted acting without integrity and acting recklessly. The former head of Public Interest Lawyers is appearing at the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal to face allegations connected with his role in bringing claims against the British Army in Iraq.
I'm sure Gerry will do something over this:
Real IRA figure Aidan 'The Beast' O'Driscoll shot dead in Cork street
What's going to happen? Some of the people who were there can't remember where they left the TV remote now let alone 37 years ago. Turn up, say you can't remember anything.
Edit: This too:
Former RUC officers no longer helping with legacy investigations into Troubles killings What a ridiculous witch hunt, not to mention the crazy waste of money. I could understand if it was specific incidents, like Bloody Sunday, but to investigate all deaths? Makes no sense to me. I wonder if Blair knew this would happen and didn't care, he wanted his legacy.. I find it pretty ridiculous, but hey this is the UK the capital of ridiculous, seemingly peodophiles in elite circles and politicians ignoring the will of the people.. Blair let off the terrorists with a piece of paper. John Major had a lot to do with getting peace in Northern Ireland. Blair is Blair does, preens and purrs.
As tough as that was, Peace is far more important. If we'd refused to have done that ? The troubles would have likely dragged on. There are a lot of dirty secrets in regards to Northern Ireland, we simply do not know the truth. So we can't really say which soldiers need to be investigated and which ones followed the rules of engagement of the time. What was is the title of this thread supposed to mean ? Not sure, but it's the thin end of the wedge You are missing how one sided it is. Either both sides are pursued or both sides let off.
