French President returning immediately. Here's an idea. Why don't we import more of these wonderful people into this country? They are so lovely, so peaceful! What could go wrong? It is difficult to maintain a balance when these atrocities occur, but objective opinions are so much better than blind, angry subjective opinions. where is all this leading? Maybe this is leading to the division HRH The Queen Elizabeth II is on about. He's only saying what so many will be thinking.
Hardly a month goes by now without a similar story.
Guess we should be grateful it's usually not in our backyard.Yet. Are you thinking what I’m thinking? That we could be involved in wars for the best part of this millennium thus far and not expect any blow back, time to take those rosy red glasses off! It's more than likely that if we do suffer with a terrorist atrocity again, it will be carried out by British born citizens who have fought in Iraq and Syria and have come back to wage jihad here (they will probably link up with any ISIS fighters who've managed to enter the UK illegally via the crisis in the med).
However angry people are, we should not let blind rage guide us. We need to be methodical and decisive in defeating ISIS, and then whatever else springs up in it's place. Killing Osama Bin Laden did not end the fight, it just closed a chapter in something that's probably going to span the rest of this century.
We had suicide bombings on the tube, and a copycat failed attack, Solider beheaded etc. And a whole host of other attacks that were foiled by the police and security services. We have to be lucky every single time, Terrorists only have to be lucky once. If we do get attacked ? I doubt very much that it will have the effect Terrorists intend.
Time we took on ISIS directly and cleaned up the mess Bush and Blair created.
Edit: Just heard British people may well be victims. Not sure if that's been confirmed yet or not. What with? Not only are the armed forces the smallest ever, they may get even smaller still. I posted elsewhere on it, 30 RAF squadrons down to 7 etc.
House of Commons Defence Committee report. | AVForums By we I meant the Western World. It's not something the UK could do on it's own. The US has the resources to crush ISIS, but Obama does not seem interested in that. Guess it would take an attack on US Soil to get Obama to send US troops in to defeat the immediate threat of ISIS.
Defeating the ideology is a different battle altogether.
