If we took some of the comments on here regarding pay/conditions literally we would be sending in Chuck Norris' Delta Force to rescue the poor nurses and teachers from their evil government captors.. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Those in the public sector could presumably leave and work in the private sector if it’s so bad? The may not get a job in the same field, but then if I left my job, I may have to do something completely different.

That’s the crux of the issue;

1) All of the nurses/teachers leave their jobs to work in the Private Sector doing something else - NHS/Schools suffer with reduced staff, everyone else suffers when they want to be treated in hospital or taught in school.

2) The people doing these jobs actually choose to do them because they care about others so they stay, and the Government take advantage of that by limiting their pay.

Private schools and hospitals exist. They aren't limited to the public sector.

And impact of skilled staff shortages is not limited to the public sector either.

Again, I’m alright Jack?I’d imagine that the majority of the U.K. population can’t afford to use either Private Schools or Private Hospitals so that’s hardly a great argument.

I also never said staff shortages are limited to the public sector.

With teachers, that's exactly what's happened. They've left in their tens of thousands and there's now a shortage crisis. What's happened is the complete opposite of what would happen in the Private Sector. Recruitment has been slowly going down and wages / conditions haven't improved to tackle recruitment. Its completely baffling.
