So how do we oppose those laws or policies that we don't agree with while in the EU.
Successive governments have hidden behind the apron strings of the EU to push their agendas.
While the UK establishment were involved in the decision making of the EU how have any people of Europe got any say over the EU except pursuing a referendum and voting to leave..

If we were making all these EU laws then the EU would be a lot more like the UK and we wouldn't have wanted to leave it. I mean, we could have ditched the tampax law years ago.

EU rules forcing Britain to keep tampon tax will apply for years after Brexit

That's the second time you've said that. Can you explain how we had disproportional influence? Are you thinking by population, land mass, MPs, gross/net contribution or something else?

EU Law with the UK - EU Law without the UK

"Can you explain?"

I've read the article and may take away a different message than you did, so I'd be interested in your interpretation. Which was somewhat absent.

I never realized that, so it never mattered who we voted into government then, we could have dumped the Tories and carried on with Labour without it making any difference, great I don't really like the smug Tories but even better still we could have elected The Monster Raving Looney party, think how great it would have been to watch political interviews on Newsnight with Jeremy Paxman interviewing Screaming Lord Such. It wouldn't have mattered what they did as let's face it Brussels make the decisions. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Your argument has merit if we are tied to the EU. Then we are tied to something we have no influence on. One of the ideas of Brexit is for the EU to have less influence and for us to deal more with the rest of the planet.

If we are trading with the EU then goods have to meet EU standards. If we are trading with the US then goods have to meet US standards, and so on.

If we are dealing with lots of different markets with the EU being just one, EU influence only matters in that case.

Hence why we couldn't save Rover and take it into ownership, why the Post Office was sold off, we couldn't do much about our steel industry.data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I quite understand your scepticism, sarcasm and imagination.

Not a bad effort, considering.
