The creation of Pakistan and it's independance from the UK was in 1947 and 1956 respectively.

I responded to your history lesson of when those laws were introduced. You said it was 19th century, we are in the 21st century. This event happened in 2014 iirc which is in the 21st century.

Note: before someone says 'that is 200 years ago' etc - the British laws that established the Blasphemy law and many others in Pakistan were created in the late 18th century and amended by the British in 1947.
So Pakistan has run on a constitution established by the British that they took over in 1956 and have amended since, but it's foundations are still those set in place by the British.

That's because luckily we live in a country that was directly effected by the Enlightenment, and although it took a long time, we eventually established and co-oped modern Western human rights laws.
We have slowly broken the strangle hold of religion over society and moved forwards - those countries where the Enlightement didn't reach have still to attain such freedoms and progress.

Apparently, a Christian offering a Muslim a drink from the same cup is offensive and blasphemous in the eyes of Islam.

That is not the problem as of now. She served time in jail and has been released. That chapter is over. The issue, as of today, is that she will probably be murdered by Muslims in Pakistan who still think she should pay for her sin.
Spain and France I believe, have offered her asylum, but she wants to come here. However, it appears the Home office is considering this might cause unrest in Pakistan against British interests, and they are looking at her safety in Britain as she would be under threat by our local Muslims.

Not so sure on that, Curry restaurants and take away places seem to do a roaring trade in the UK.Blaming the British for Pakistani law today is not on. Lets face it they were backward then and they are still the same today, it seems, in Pakistan.
