More so than ever the UK and indeed Europe needs tier one military as the US and more so this administration becomes ever more protectionist . I can see a seismic change incoming in the next couple of weeks where Trump may just pull all 35K forces out of Germany and may even discredit NATO and be done with it .

We may even be getting to a point of aUS / Russia trade /Allience where old allies become the new enemy.

Yup hyperbolic indeed but anything is possible it seems and we be playing catch up on shirt tails .

A new report exposes the sinister truth behind Armed Forces Day | The Canary

Armed Forces Day targets children for recruitment by allowing them to play with guns | The Canary

Note, I've never seen a child being allowed to "play" with a gun.

My thoughts.

Tier 1 and 3% GDP, Yes.

How anyone can question if we were right to declare war on the Nazi's in 1939 is beyond me.

And yes today's school leavers and Uni grads are mostly soft. I've worked in heavy industry and heavy engineering for over 30 years. The last 10years especially has seen a noticeable decline in how leavers are able to cope with noise/heat/cold/stress and physical tasks. Never mind the ability to follow instructions and take a b********g.
Snowflake generation tag is worryingly true.

A feathery things that is yellow.
Sounds right. Let them go into a conflict in the Balkans to protect civilians.

Ah the Canary, it's the left's version of the Daily Mail. They always overhype stories, I just roll my eyes and look for reputable sources.

I'm pleased that people are still allowed to question historical events. A questioning mind leads to research, knowledge, understanding, drawing conclusions and voicing opinions.

Personally I still question if we were 'right' in declaring war on Germany in 1939.

...But then hindsight is a wonderful thing.

What should we have done? Surrendered?

It was the only option that could have led to victory, and in doing so we saved the world from pure evil.

If war had not been declared then we would not have survived. Hitler invaded everywhere he could.
