It was just another tweet, I’ll see if I can find it again though.

I'm having trouble finding any turnout stats, anyone have a link for me?

Here’s the tweet I saw

Dave Ware on Twitter

Fake News?
The elected councillors for the Malton Ward, and the 2 Norton Wards were2 Independents, 3 Tories and 1 Lib Dem, so those numbers showing Labour got the most genuine votes are meaningless.

Ward doesn't exist as outlined in the original tweet so yep I would say it's made up

I thought so.There has clearly been a big push by some of those advocating "disillusionment with politics" to try and promote the idea that voters simply didn't turn up and/or spoilt their ballot papers. But the results just don't support that.Taking the example given, even merging Malton and both Norton districts into one, there were only 56 corrupted votes collectively!

For avoidance of doubt, I am not blaming Goooner who was just relaying information in good faith. But it just goes to show how there are ongoing efforts to manipulate the narrative.

Would be interesting to see the official figures, if they’re ever published.

Returning officers normaly announce the spoiled papers at the end of each count when they declare, it should be a matter of public record.

An independent lost to an incumbent by one spoiled paper.
