If we really wanted to.We could build a new airport in a year or 2.Not 10/20 years as they suggest with the likes of Boris Island.
Cash and resources, along with a a massive less dose of all the legal/H&S rubbish.

Really, so we want a government to ride rough shod over legality and not worry about safety of workers. Now i know how we could have won the world cup bid ahead of Qatar

Its started. A protest group has broken through security at Heathrow and shut down the northern runway. They call themselves Plane Stupid - although I could think of a better name.
Heathrow Airport climate change protest disrupts flights - BBC News
They are a direct action group, which I suppose means they are right and they will take action and everyone else can get lost.
Anyway, is this a taste of things to come if we choose to expand Heathrow? Its often been said the cost of the Heathrow plan is less than a new airport, but if this type of protest (cost will be a couple of millions-today) carries on, then Heathrow may be very expensive indeed.

Boris is 100% right on this one. Building another runway is a lot of hassle for very little gain. We are already being overtaken by European airports and elsewhere. As a matter of fact I'm writing this in a lounge in Bahrain on my way to Dubai. That is the HUB for my connecting flight.
We could learn a lot from how these overseas airports which properly planned.
Stop with the sticking plasters on Heathrow, don't waste money, and get on with building a proper hub.

What price for a new Heathrow? Alex Salmond has mooted SNP support...for a price:
Alex Salmond: Scotland will need half a billion pounds to support third runway at Heathrow
Ignoring the fact this is a political stunt to antagonise English voters, it could make a new runway at Heathrow significantly more likely to happen. A good thing surely?

Not so surely.
Long term it's madness to carry on expanding Heathrow. More planes flying over the city.
If we were a serious, forward thinking country then Boris Island would be half built by now.
