Don't see how you're failing to see the comparison between asking law-abiding members of the British population to do something that no-one else has to do?

If I was part of a community where child sacrifice was an issue, then I would speak out against it.
It isn't to make me feel better but to make the majority of law abiding Muslim citizens more apparent to those increasing amount of UK citizens whose opinions are being influenced by the constant negative reporting of that community in the media.
It is these communities that will feel increasingly isolated and threatened by, what is, an increasing tide of ill feeling towards them. The state cannot take all the burden of responsibility for ensuring a positive image for the Muslim community and, ultimately, their safety - if they areserious about taking a full part in a wider UK multicultural community then they should take more responsibility in promoting that instead of allowing a small ,but increasing minority, of extremists to promote the exact opposite.

The BNP are white British. I am white British. I don't see any need to go on a march condemning the BNP. Some people do but I can't be bothered. I don't agree with the BNP, don't associate with them and they don't speak for me.
I imagine a lot of Muslims see some extremists and think, can't be bothered with them, don't agree with them, don't associate with them, and they don't speak for me.
