Keith Vaz

Mr Bouncebackability!
Or is it, what he has on parliament, maybe his fornications are minor compared to his cohorts, whatever it is, it makes him Teflon. Only weeks ago it looked as though he was finished, but now sitting on the justice committee!

Just goes to show: you can't keep a good member down.

He would appear to be an asset in parliamentary affairs so they have decided to make use of his talents.

...As long as he keeps his nose clean - no more sordid rent boys stuff (allegedly).

Tory Whips Saved Vaz - Guido Fawkes

When 203 MPs voted for Keith Vaz to join the Justice select committee last night, everyone assumed Labour MPs had turned up to back their man. In actual fact, Guido can reveal that it was the Tories who whipped their side to secure Vaz’s position. A disbelieving Conservative MP tells Guido that as he walked through the voting Lobby he saw a group of Tory whips ordering their MPs to vote for Vaz. There was no Labour whipping operation, only a small number of Labour MPs turned up for the vote. As a result 159 of the 203 MPs who voted for Vaz were Tories, including ministers like Amber Rudd, Jeremy Hunt and Liam Fox. The whips’ pathetic argument was “you’re voting for the process, not for him”. This decision to appoint a crook to the Justice committee is one of parliament’s most shameful acts in recent years – and the Tories are the ones responsible…

Tories wanting to keep him in? I guess he was another Tory deep cover agent like Corbyn. Undermine Labour by keeping these people in positions of prominence.

That wouldn't really work as Vaz is always going to win in Leicester East, traditional labour voters in Leicester are very anti-Corbyn. Unfortunately, they are also very silent about it. Best way to describe the typical voter in Vaz's constituency is 'capitalists with a social conscience', on economic policies they're centre-right very unlike Corbyn.
I'm actually kind of surprised the Tories haven't really campaigned in the city for decades, that's the east, south and west constituencies; vaz is in the East. Opportunity missed for the Tories as had they put some work in the last decade, they'd have a decent chance of winning a seat, just not against Vaz.

It doesn't get a mention on BBC News.
Goodbye Conservatives!

Either Vaz has dirt on everyone in the Westminster village (which is probably likely given how he keeps wriggling out of tight corners), or the Tories are simply hoping Vaz blunders his way into a bigger scandal in which they can use to score political points over Labour with. I doubt the wider electorate will notice who voted him onto a Parliamentary committee.

Bercow Cut Off Bridgen Mid-Speech Before Vaz Vote - Guido Fawkes

As soon as Andrew Bridgen said the words “abused his position” during the Vaz debate last night, the Speaker interjected. Bercow dramatically warned that Bridgen “must desist” from speaking of allegations not currently in the public domain. Minutes later, Tory MP Jake Berry asked Bridgen if he would publish his correspondence with Bercow, in which said allegations appear. Bercow stopped Berry and gave him a telling off, claiming this was irrelevant to the debate. Remember, the Speaker has protected his friend Keith Vaz before…
