Europe and its love of the far right.

European elections: Surge of support means a third of MEPs could be populist - Sky analysis

Around a third of the seats in the next European Parliament could be taken by candidates from populist parties or coalitions if elections were held this week, Sky News analysis has found.

Italy is set to be the largest contributor to the wave, with 61 of its 76 European Parliament (EP) seats projected to be taken by populists.

Sincerely hope (though I think it's still far from guaranteed) that the new party (the relevant one not the Anna Soubry onedata:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7) can pick up several million votes (17 mill would be even better) if they go ahead.

Would be little slice of payback.

Rumour abound that the UK will be offered a year extension to EU membership with the option to cut it short if Parliament agrees a deal. The aim still being to try and get the UK out before the EU elections on 23 May.So, less than seven weeks before these elections, it remains uncertain if we will get to vote in them...

EDIT: UK Government has now confirmed it will make preparations for the EU elections in case they are held.

The Government has issued the day of poll order for the EU elections. They can still be cancelled though if an exit deal can be struck before 22 May.
