Cheers dude - will look out for it. I'll be interested to see who the new Venom is, and more importantly what happens to Mac Gargan - who is currently (as far as I'm aware) Venom, and has a nasty habit of eating people whole...

Being new to Marvel I want to get reading Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk and the Avengers. I see Mark Millar does the 'Ultimates' in paperback just wondering if anyone could recommend some stuff and maybe what order I should approach. I know all the origin stories but have never read any source material.

thanks

I had not read any Marvel in a long time either - I would recommend the Ultimates (there are 3 of them) and also Civil War. Ultimates 3 is a little weak, but the first Ultimates and the Civil War GN should be the the first £15-20 I would spend.

It depends, for some people reading the comics is just about enjoying the issues and not worrying about chronology, however there are some lists around for chronology which is often seen as the "perfect" reading order, especially when it comes to ultimate Xs - this is quite a post:

For me the it's all about:
Astonishing X-Men
Civil War
Eternals
The Ultimates

As Theydon says #3 is a bit weak, but Civil War is incredible and I fully echo his recommendations.

thanks I have read Astonishing X-Men so theres a start always been a fan of X-Men and soon as seen Whedons name on it always knew it would be gold. I'll see what pennies I can get together and see about ordering the rest listed there.

In terms of GNs for each Avenger does anyone have any favourites that give you a good origin or just a good adventure.

Just finished "Ex Machina", I'll give it 7/10 overall I think. Not really lived up to the hype that I've heard for it but an entertaining read nonetheless.

Preacher next then I think.

For Theydon Bois, managed to dig this out while having a rearrange & thought you'd like to see a picture.

just finished reading The Walking Dead volume 3 and can't wait to get started on volume 4 now this graphic novel just goes from strength to strength!

Me too....I'm about halfway through volume 4 and must get around to ordering the next couple. I just love the way that the moral compass of the characters isn't fixed and they are constantly having to adjust their opinions/decisions based on how events unfold.
