Unfortunately this book for me is where I stopped with Mr Eddings and his wife, not terrible, but not good either.

Cheers mikey, I am absolutely loving TDT. Funny you should mention Wizard and Glass - that was actually the first book in the series that I bought, back when it was first released (I had no idea at the time that it was book 4 of a series). I held onto it for over ten years and never read it, and finally last summer I started The Gunslinger. I'm now a couple of hundred pages into The Dark Tower, and am continually blown away at the scope of King's imagination.
I definitely need to re-read the ASOIAF books as I want everything to be fresh in my mind for A Dance with Dragons.

I liked the Dark Tower series but still like The wheel of time series more.
Other good series are:
Stephen Donaldson - Tales of Thomas Convenant series 1 & 2
James Stoddard The high house & The false house.
Most of the David Gemmell and David Eddings books

Same here. Didn't enjoy the book much and everything after that he wrote with his wife just got worse and worse.

I really enjoyed this one it wasn't to the elder gods that I gave up. My mum got me a couple for Christmas a couple of years ago and they are still on the self unread.
Has anyone read the band and banished series by james Clements? I think that's the name of the series. They all have witch in the title I think.

I think I was more dissapointed as I read almost straight after coming from reading the Tamuli. It was just, different I guess. Still have it might give it a 2nd read.

The Athalus one was pretty good. I'm currently trying to read th Elder Gods ones and have been stalled on them for a while, number 1 was alright but i'm struggling to keep up my enthusiasm and have really struggled to get through the other. Up to the first 50 pages of number 3 now but finding excuses to do other stuff instead of reading.

And for me too. The Belgarion and Sparhawk sagas are immensely enjoyable (in fact I named my daughter Danae) but Althalus followed by the weak Elder Gods were poor, derivative and so contrived I just couldn't read them.
His passing away saddened me but I'll always have those brilliant series he wrote.

In the week and a bit since I last posted I have not read a word of the third Elder Gods book!
Might have to read something else and come back later.
Agree on the Belgarion and Sparthawk books, excellent series' that I must have read 3-4 times at least.
