Is it just me or are the prices quoted so far on this thread sky high?
So far this year we've been -
A road trip around Amsterdam, Paris, Nuremburg and Cologne.
A weekend in Edinburgh.
A weeks all inclusive in Spain.
Next week is a week on the broads.
And in the autumn we're back on the broads on a different boat.
All the above except the last one came to less than £1200 for the two of us.Our 'main' holiday this year is the autumn boating holiday and will total probably£1100 for the two of us.
So five breaks totaling less than £2.500 all together.
Maybe people take the view that the more the holiday costs, the more they will enjoy it?

we tend to do cheap but good holidays - the one I mentioned above for 2 adults in june is just over 300 each including flights and breakfast... data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

So this your idea of a holiday? data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Having children makes holidays massively more expensive. We are a bit mad and have four - so straight away that is 3x the accommodation and 3x the flights compared to a holiday for two - and then there is the double whammy of having to go out of term time which probably doubles the cost again - so a rough guess at 6x the cost of our old holidays for two on a like for like basis data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Hence why we drive to Europe rather than fly, and camp rather than hotel data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 (For the main summer holiday)

Then we probably spend £7-1200 on a nice three/four bed self catering cottage in the peak/lake district or the south west/wales for a couple of the half terms/Easter.

We're for Lanzarote in May...originally going to go on Easter Hols for 7 nights but prices were really expensive, touching £4k for the flights and hotel we wanted, 2 adults 2 kids. The kids are off for a full week in mid May and we got the exact same holiday, well, actually 8 nights in May instead of 7 in Easter and only for £1,900 for the 4 of us all in - 5 star hotel, all inclusive so about half price compared to Easter. Will be back up to full price again come end of June so really good timing for us, and airport is 3 miles away so as hastle free as you could hope for.
