I think the assumption is that a) most of your miles will be solo, and b) if going on a family outing you have more chance to warm up the cabin before you leave.

So BMW folding mirrors do this
Auto dim to prevent dazzling
Passenger mirror dips on reverse
Auto fold when locked
Auto open when unlocked
Mirrors - £300
Heated Front Seats - £325
Cheers,

The auto mirrors are far more useful than heated seats.
Auto dip when reversing is a god send to save your alloys.
I never use the heated seats and the missus uses them about once a year.

Heated seats.
Although I do love the dipped mirror on reverse, which sadly Audi don't do and I own a Audi.

Plus the auto fold is great as I hate leaving wing mirrors sticking out. They are even tucked in on my drive right now

Heated seat is a luxury for cold time, if you have the money, then why not.
As for folding, I would definitely get it if you're live in the city, why, you'll never know when someone may clip or smash your wing mirror while it's parked, I can tell you it will cost you some pretty pennys for repairs
