Agreed, but that's not what they have done. They have charged for that (and told me that) but instead missed out completely one piece, replaced a section of another piece, and maybe or maybe not done the last two pieces.

It's really really important as it's the difference between lack of quality control and fraud

Edit
And given the other minor issues it's the difference between going for part of the money back (for work not done correctly) to arguing that all of the work can now be questioned (where the disks really changed and if so new as claimed etc) so suing for the 3.5k back plus expenses plus compensation. 5k plus in short

Brake discs are easy to check.

With a Ramp, brake pipes are even easier to check, yet (i believe) that they have done a half arse job. I believe that they failed to fully bleed the brake fluid, failed to align the steering wheel, failed to check all nuts were fitted on the wheels when returning the vehicle and damaged the nuts that they did refit, missed a section of brake pipe and possibly repaired instead of replaced another, with the rear brake pipes still being in question.
Thats enough for me to argue that it is fair to have the cost paid to have all their work stripped, checked and reassembled.

Add fraud to it and its enough to question if all new parts where used if they couldn't even do the ones that can easily be checked as claimed. Its grounds to ask for a complete replacement of all parts used (granted with some haggling) and a much larger compensation. Plus of course Ford UK reaction to a dealership being found guilty of fraud (however small) i would imagine would be interesting if it did go to court and i won

Edit
To think if they had just taken me seriously all of this could have been easily avoided data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

1) Yes, if they joined the pipe then it's a repair.

2) Yes it should be obvious if a pipe had been replaced.

Instructions email to lawyer

Decided to claim fraudulent work as part of the claim and go for the lot back. The dealership can either make me a sensible offer or it can all get decided in court as to what is reasonable or not. Either way I should get my legal costs etc back, though i can see it taking 1 to 12 months to sort out. The law/justice moves at it own pace

IronGiant Publish time 25-11-2019 00:02:39

I find it extremely hard to believe it would be easier/cheaper to splice new pipe onto old pipe, rather than just rip the whole lot out and replace with new given how cheap the pipe is.Please be 100% sure they repaired it rather than replaced it before going out all guns blazing.

The guy who did the report explain that bit to me, apparently due to how ford have designed the layout it's a git of a job to do that most mechanics would avoid doing whenever possible. So whilst he didn't approve he wasn't surprised.

If I had been quoted and charged for that then I would have a different attitude, but as the mechanic who did the work was called to speak to me at the dealership when i first raised concerns and swore that it had all been done correctly and no bits missed etc then given the rest I can fully believe that they tried to con me

Edit
Really really hacked off over all of this, I paid a premium for dealership work and instead got back street quality

The 3.5k was spent in the hope of getting a few more years out of the van, but as corners have been cut then that money has been totally wasted as who knows how long it will last for now, just past the 12 month warranty is my guess

Like I said, be 100% sure you aren't going off half cocked. You've said and demonstrated you are out of your depth here, and I wouldn't want you to get burnt. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
