How about a qashqai that needs ZR rated tyres and will only do 120 at the most ....

My Ford Focus ST1710 has a quoted top speed of 136 mph, so requires rated v or above, hence it gets tyres 215/45 R17 87V - the 87 is the load rating.

As I understand it, the speed rating and load index are as important as each other. As long as the tyre specification exceeds what is required, you should have no problem - the ideal is to meet the car's spec exactly, but having a speed & or load rating higher that required is ok.

My other car has different load rating numbers for the front and back, because the engine (where the bulk of the weight of the car) is nearer the rear axle than the front (it is mid-engined).The rear wheels are also a different size to the fronts, both in diameter and width.Obviously the speed rating is same front and rear tyres.

www.mytyres.com have the Nankang Ultra Sport NS-2 in 215/50/17 at £54.50 each, with free shipping.

I assume your mate/brother at Kwik Fit will fit them free?

You’ll even have £2 spare for a bag of chips to eat while they’re fitted data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

My mate doesn’t do the tyres it would be his friend, I think he would fit them for maybe £20. Will definitely have a look in to this. Cheers.
