As you are on a budget and made that very clear. I would go if I was in the same boat for Nankang NS-20. One is about £63/corner. I would try and get 4 for at the most £240.
PS. You still haven't mentioned what car it is...

Haha, it’s a Ford Focus. Great car. Thanks for the recommendation.

Which Ford Focus requires ZR speed rated tyres?
I have an ST170 that is specified with V speed rated tyres.
ZR is an old measure for tyres to be able to withstand driving at 149mph or more... Not a trait that applies to most Ford Focus models.

I agree with you - tyres are not all the same, but if they meet basic standards and are approved for sale then they will be adequate in terms of safety and longevity, but not class-leading - that is what the top brands strive for and achieve through massive R&D spending, hence the extra that they charge.
Some budget brands of tyre are almost exactly the same construction and design as the tyres from leading brands a few years ago - the big companies sell on their old designs once they have made a step change in their technology.

I think the major point here that could do with repeating is that the tyres are the only thing keeping you in contact with the road. You don't skimp on tyres. Just as no one would suggest buying part worn brake pads. Just don't do it. I get the whole budget thing, most of us have been there, but ultimately you want to be safe. The tyre rating you mention suggests that you've bought a car with a little more performance than a standard car, all the more reason to put safe tyres on it.

No idea mate. I know very little about cars to be honest but those are the tyres that were on the car when I bought it so I’ve been trying to replace them with the same type as they’ve worn away.

That tyre size/profile on a Focus suggests to me aftermarket wheels fitted, maybe it's a performance model or maybe a previous owner wanted it to look like one, if the OP discloses the model might be he could fit lower performance tyres legally.

Put your reg in this link and see what size and speed rating it says
Car Tyres from Asda Tyres. Save money. Live better.
Or check your owners manual or the sticker in the car door frame

My focus has 205/55 R16 on it so probably aftermarket or alloys.
