The silver pipe is the turbo oil return, may just need a new gasket if its leaking, sometimes they get blocked up.
Wire is to the MAF sensor, any problems here and it would throw an error code.

I still think its a turbo vain issue, did you check the actuator arm moves freely?

The wire is the connection I said to remove to test the MAF sensor.

Yes, possible turbo vanes sticking or EGR stuck.

Yes, the arm moves in and out,(thats the black thing, on the side of the EGR valve?)
Im going to try an N75 solenoid, as it seems to be the next cheapest, easiest option.
Then, im thinking cleaning out turbo....nightmare.

So if i unplug that MAF sensor, should the problem still occur?
Just took car out, its still working ok, but, ive a feeling it will go if i floor it!!

malk Publish time 24-11-2019 23:54:18

The black thing on the side of the EGR, when i push it in and out, it moves no problem, untill about 90% of the way in, then i can feel what is like a little notch, like a little bit of resistance, and it does a slight clicking sound, like theres a slight groove going across the arm, should it be smooth ALL the way in?

That's not the turbo actuator, its the shudder valve. Turbo actuator looks like this...

                                                                                                                                        /proxy.php?image=http://www.myturbodiesel.com/images/a4/vnt2.jpg&hash=e20866f3bc50d0ff626b6a750f5a7db1

OHHHH, ill have a look,.
Just went out with MAF unplugged, ran terrible!! No power.

My turbo actuator went last year. Happened every time I accelerated onto the motorway near me and went into limp mode but it did throw up an error. Turning the engine off reset it until the next hard acceleration.

Do you have access to a code reader @malk?
