Am not sure what your point is, this looks a rubbish deal ...

Including the deposit its the equivalent of £300 a month for a Golf, there are better deals\cars to be had at that price

Its a depreciating asset though that you are buying.Keep it for the term and you pay the same monthly price, no more, no less.It is similar in that if you take out a regular loan you still have to keep the payments up, you can't just decide to stop.

Now whether it comes a time when they decide that PCPs are the next PPI who knows, that sector has to do something next ....

I appreciate that some people don't like\won't use credit but the total cost of ownership of say a car over 10 years compared to a new one every 3 or 4 can be comparable. It all depends on a lot of variables.

The comments mention how to get the best deal for cash via a PCP and immediate pay off.

Faust Publish time 24-11-2019 23:32:41

You have to admit the VW example isn't a stellar offer by any stretch of the imagination.I could get a better or at least as good a deal as that by hammering them down and paying cash.

ChuckMountain Publish time 24-11-2019 23:32:41

The finance examples on most websites are like looking at the cash list price in the spec book.As you said you wouldn't ever pay them.

If somebody is willing to pay them, best get let them get their double glazing sorted too whilst its still on offer //static.avforums.com/styles/avf/smilies/facepalm.gif

If you want to get the best deal on a brand new car (and you are not hiring it) then its going to be a question of looking at something like Whatcar to get a reasonable target price. Then shopping around via CarWow to get a dealer to give you a competitive price.See if the local one will get anywhere close, take the finance, immediately pay off the finance and you should be quids in.

Seriously? Oh come on....Smart people go for the best deal, be it cash, PCP, PCH, or BCH....Do your sums each and everytime and don't follow daft blanket statements like that. I'd rather keep my cash in my pocket if I can get a much better deal in another way...

That is like the worst example ever...My Golf R - not the 1.0 model you linked to - with DSG, 5 Door and Metallic pain was only £223 with only £669 deposit for 12,000 miles per year...

What it highlights to me is simply that you aren't a very savvy shopper, and not aware of where there is a good deal to be had...

How long can you wait for the new car?

The 2018 Nissan Leaf is literally about to land on UK shores, and on PCP itll likely cost the same as a Quashqai.

Real life range will be around 150 miles, and deliver a smooth driving experiecne no diesel can get close to.

If you are willing to switch electricty supplier to one with a good E7 deal fuel costs will be almost negligible. I spent a total of £150 in eletricity to cover 14K miles in my old Leaf. And no DPF issues to worry about.

The new Leaf looks so much better aesthetically than the old one! That’s definitely a car I could see us owning in the next few years once they are prevalent on the second hand market
