HAve they sent you pictures of your car entering and leaving the car park with the time/date stamped on the picture? If not then I would ask for these. If you have these then you should be able to clearly see which one is wrong.
May seem a silly question but you did not drive out of the car park and return within the 3 hour window?

No there is no pictures clearly showing me coming in the car park and leaving the car park, It does have the times stamped above the picture showing the entry time and exit time. But as I said there is no way i would of been in Costa for over 3 hours.

That's going to be very hard to dispute with no evidence to the contrary, I'd reluctantly pay up and "save" the £40 excess...

Yes it looks like I have no choice, having a coffee for 2 hours maybe but having a coffee for 3 hours no way. their times must be wrong.

below is my google timeline for the 7th December. Rather scary what google can track.

The two images of the car are from different cameras?
One shows the rear of the car, not parked (driving, brakelights on).
The other shows the front of the car (nobody in the driver's seat, stationary), parked?
Is the remainder of the registration visible in the original images, and definitely both match your car?
I don't know how an image of a parked car is relevant to the entry or exit time, surely both images must be from the gate camera to justify an allegation of overstaying (evidence of time arrived and left).

The memorycard with my dashcam is too small to keep journeys from 12 days ago, but using smartphone app Torque (connected to the engine management computer via an ODB Bluetooth interface) records my journey details, which would evidence my car being in use somewhere else if that were the case; that is a longer term record.

If i read the times right then you were actually there for 3.5 hours!

Times are:
2018-12-07 13-40-41and 2018-12-07 10-14-26But it's hard to work out as many of the 2's look like 3's.The 13-40-41 could be a 12-40-41.How long did you pay for?

Do you have a defective brake light?

I don't see anything specific in those photos, I see a car, one being driven (brake lights on) and the other parked next to another car. I do not see evidence of a specific car-park or an entrance or exit for that matter nor do I see a time stamp on the photos.

My first request would be pictures of the car clearly showing the car entering and leaving the specific car park with date/time stamp on each photo.
