Well, yes, I do find it handy at work!

It can get in the way though, as the positioning of aircraft HUDs are designed to give an overlay that matches the outside world, so the heading display along the horizon gives a one-to-one image, and the flight path vector (the little aircraft symbol) shows exactly where the aircraft is travelling in the real world outside. In the picture above, you can see that we’ll clear the top of the cloud ahead, something that is difficult to ascertain normally, as the horizon is much lower than we normally perceive when at ground level. Car HUDs have the freedom to be designed in an aesthetically pleasing way, so that was the advancement I was alluding to really; I think it’s really neat that they’re coming to the fore for motorists now - anything that encourages keeping your attention outside of the car has to be a good thing.data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Would highly recommend as well - just means you don't have to take your eyes of the road to see valuable information data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

One of the better things to be added to cars

One other thing I've noticed about the HUD on my car is that if you wear polarised sunglasses, the display cannot be seen.

Despite this, I still think it's a very worthwhile option to have.

I'd definitely recommend as well - I wouldn't be without mine now.The Mini's does look a bit weird - there's this little screen thing sticking up out of the dashboard. On my Mercedes (C-Class), there's a hole (for want of a better word) in the dashboard with a mirror in it, which I think looks neater (I'd also be worried about bashing the Mini's when cleaning).

You can fix that though. Tilt your head to one side (as in drop one side towards a shoulder) it likely will be visible. Driving in that position may not be as safe as simply not having the HUD though!

The main dash display on my car is OK but the centre one (clock, trip meter etc.) means tilting my head.
