I have been a Tyler Perry fan for quite some time now, but it wasn't until my mother in law told me that she didn't like his writing style, that I took notice. As an educated woman, I find his story lines and conversations juvenile, outrageously unrealistic and unnecessarily prolonged. Eddie is an over the top police officer who gets away with way too much. If Esperanza doesn't like him, and knows his character – why continue unnecessary conversation with him, always ending with "I don't know why I talk to you"? Travis is back on the scene as a crazed and jilted maniac? Seems like Perry just tried to find a way to keep him as part of the cast. Why? Characters come and go, leaving viewers with lack of follow up, of follow through. For example, I am still waiting to see what happened with Claudia's story line. It was revealed last season that she is perhaps in protective custody, and that Lushion is perhaps undercover. Aside from the horrible story line, the acting is awful. The writing is even worse. There was a scene with Natalie and Lushion in the hospital waiting for word from the doctor as to Natalie's son's condition. The doctor finally comes out to chat with them. This is the conversation: I'm Dr. Norton {Pause}. Tell me. He's not in the best condition. How bad. He has less than a 12% chance of making it. There is hope right? Not much. There is some hope though, right? I wouldn't get too hopeful. All I have is hope. When the bullet shattered his rib cage (further explains)…. Lushion then interrupts and asks "How bad is it?" Didn't Natalie just ask the same question not 5 seconds ago?! – What doctor PAUSES to hear what the other party states after providing his name? Honestly, it sounds like a 15 year old wrote this script. It is increasingly difficult to watch a show that feels like it's filling airtime with repeated sentences and delayed conversation. It is by fault of this show that I only made it through one episode of "Too Close to Home" – I saw the same style and I just couldn't bear it. I canceled it from my DVR schedule along with If Loving You is Wrong.
