As a science geek I enjoyed the opening premise. Episode one was well written and well acted. Episode two was a good finish. Then the show began to lose my interest a scene at a time. What should be an action/suspense/horror series devolved into a disjointed soap opera with a myriad of useless subplots. Thank goodness for the fast-forward feature.
It is as though the writers sought out every regurgitated character-type they could find to insert as subplots to this poorly written film. They have the investigative (wannabe) reporter, the "we must attack" military commander, the corrupt politician, the jealous villain, the lesbian couple, the child actor, and more. All of them and their never-ending dialogue distract from the show versus adding substance to it. Each episode added an additional, baseless subplot/cliche character. Because of the multitude of subplots nothing is done well throughout the series after the first two or three episodes. Moreover, the majority of the film (which extensively takes place in the woods following the first two episodes) looks low-budget, especially the HQ for the feds.
This series could have been so much more had they remained focused on the theme versus trying to add something for everyone. Any review that claims this complete series is a seven or higher should be viewed with extreme skepticism.
