Hi

Apologies in advance if I have not posted this in the correct part of the forum.

Recently I have been wanting to transfer some old VHS onto my PC. Problem was the only VHS player I have around is a very old Daewoo TV/Video combi which has one scart outlet. I was advised that if the connection had 2 arrows facing opposite ways that the connection was input and output like this

I have since bought a gadget which is meant to do the transferring for me.

This worked fine connecting an old video camera to it via the Yellow, Red and White connections. When it comes to the scart in the TV though I cannot get a picture from a video. I have also bought one of these to see if it helped but it hasn't. Does anyone have any ideas why I can't get a signal through from the TV?

It's possible the scart may output the TV's internal tuner and not the VCR playback.
Easy way to check is to insert a tape, press play and connect a scart lead to another TV.

I did try that plugging the scart into the TV and my flat screen TV. Didn't get any signal from it. Although I don't actually get any signal on the TV anyways as the aerial with it is crap.

When I have it plugged into my PC all you see is the old black and white fuzzyness which changes when you change the channels etc, but the video never comes through.

If it is hooked up to the TV Tuner instead, do you think it's possible I could open it up and change it around or is that not an option.

In that case it's outputting the tuner, no it isn't possible to open it up and change it around.
You can pickup a VCR for buttons from a charity shop (or for free) these days so that's your best option.

There are special PCI cards that have SCART/cinch sockets. Friend of mine has one and we used it to directly connect a VHS player to PC to backup our old videos.
