Can I use a Super Hub for Fibre and/or DSL?

My FTTC Broadband has stopped working and BT Customer Service are sending me out a new SuperHub before taking diagnosis further. I actually have a brand new SuperHub sitting here pending a Fibre Installation (another story). Is there any difference in these Hubs and should I try to connect the one I have to move things along?  Customer Service was of no help as it’s not on the script.

I am pretty sure the only difference in these Super Hubs is the booklet they are sent out with. So I connected the new Super Hub using the grey Broadband port to master socket. All I get is the Purple light indicating no Broadband. I am convinced my FTTC has been terminated in expectation of FTTP connection despite there being no fibre to the house yet. How do I get past the Computer Says No attitude of BT Customer Service?

As far as I know FTTP routers only handle routing and access point duties and don't incorporate any modem functionality. They simply connect to the ONT box as they would to an external modem.  I'd expect it to have an ethernet port marked WAN for that purpose.

If it's got the grey broadband port with a normal or RJ11 phone connector then it does sound like it's the same hardware as used for the ADSL and VDSL(FTTC) connections.

Although there's no guarantee the software is the same, they may have disabled the modem to free up processor resources.

One thing is for sure, it didn’t work. I found an old Openreach modem and tried it on the the line and the DSL light didn’t come on. It took me an hour on the phone to get someone in BT to agree that FTTC had probably been disabled but their systems would not accept a fix. Nothing to be done until Monday.
