As far as I know FTTP routers only handle routing and access point duties and don't incorporate any modem functionality. They simply connect to the ONT box as they would to an external modem. I'd expect it to have an ethernet port marked WAN for that purpose.
If it's got the grey broadband port with a normal or RJ11 phone connector then it does sound like it's the same hardware as used for the ADSL and VDSL(FTTC) connections.
Although there's no guarantee the software is the same, they may have disabled the modem to free up processor resources. |
