I'm going to need a genuine fiber optic cable, the length is 20 meters.

I've seen people use these hybrid things but they are only going 12 meters. I'm going 20 meters and obviously its in 4k.

i'm currently converting from cat 5 to hdmi but this just doesn't seem to be cutting the mustard as some of my sources are not playing :-(

I think i will need a pure fiber optic cable.

Thanks

This has always been a niche product as it is even more expensive than Monster cables!

Anyway a search seems to indicate a choice of active optical HDMI cables so what is your question really? Not being funny here but do you have a budget for example that doesn’t fit optical HDMI?

Fibre Optic HDMI

https://www.nuetec.uk/

I agree hybrid may struggle beyond 15 metres but the full blown active fibre HDMI cables can go “up to” 100 metres depending on how lucky the manufacturer is feeling (or build quality price more usually)

Bear in mind optical HDMI has a few downsides to be aware of when installing - main ones being bend radius and physical damage that can break the fibre optics. As long as you cover that in the installation and cover off the power requirements (not sure on the latest cables but earlier cables needed USB type power injected) I think you should be able to get 20m cables easily enough. The price though is another matter!

Edit - the hybrid cables may still do this if you go for a decent brand

Fibre hdmi 7m

That was only 7m though so not sure if @Joe Fernand would recommend those for 20m or not

Thank you out of the know.  I've already been in contact with a Mr. Joe. Please see below link.

To be honest i might be able to do it in a 15 meter run. I cant see a price for a optic cable on that Nue tec website. I was hoping for a price sub 600 but maybe I was dreaming?

How many decent brand hybrid cables to you know out of the know?

Question - Fiber Optic HDMI cable wanted

I wouldn’t know ‘good brands’ of hybrid or optical HDMI a ship I haven’t bought or used them.

That NueTec one is also a hybrid if you read the blurb. For a real Fiber its about £430 - i found this out today

AOC should carry all the video etc data on the fibre and only DDS handshake on the copper.

Futureshop.co.uk

Some there have this clearly in the blurb but the NueTec one is also pretty clear the fibre cores carry the data you are interested in. I honestly don’t see a problem with the 15m NueTec - it is fibre for the bits that matter. Pay a bit more for the others where it  clearly says only DDS handshake goes over copper if you prefer

Blustream Precision 18Gbps Fibre AOC 4K UHD HDMI Cable

15m for any of those should be a doddle and no external power on these latest cables. If it doesn’t I presume that supplier is legit and will sort you out. No need to pay the extra for the very rare fibre only IMO.
